40° angled fork – Recommended as a feeding aid:

There are various conditions or physical and/or cognitive limitations that make independent eating difficult. For this reason, adapted cutlery such as this 40° angled fork has been designed.

The use of angled adapted forks is recommended by specialists for conditions related to mobility and balance, including the following:

  • Cerebral palsy: Disorders that can affect the brain and impair nervous system functions such as limb movement, learning, hearing, vision or thinking.
  • Spinal cord injuries: Associated with damage to the spinal cord that can result in loss of body functions such as mobility or sensation.
  • Severe spasticity: Refers to tense, stiff muscles that limit mobility, also known as increased muscle tone.
  • Ataxia: Causes lack of coordination or balance in the limbs.
  • Chorea: Characterised by involuntary, repetitive and irregular movements affecting the face, neck, mouth, trunk and limbs.
  • Parkinson’s disease: A neurodegenerative disorder that causes tremors, rigidity, slowness of movement or loss of balance.
  • Tremors: Involuntary, rhythmic movements of certain parts of the body such as the hands or head.

Curved fork for people with reduced mobility:

Angled forks offer certain benefits compared to conventional forks thanks to their ergonomic design and angled profile.

Key benefits include supporting the eating process, making food intake easier, promoting user independence and assisting carers during feeding tasks.

Adaptable handles for the special fork for reduced mobility:

The choice of adapted handle will depend on the user’s condition and degree of disability.  Below are some of the handles compatible with this fork model with PVC tube base:

  • Cylindrical handle: Its dimensions make gripping easier and reduce involuntary hand movements.
  • Mushroom handle: Allows the utensil to be held without changing hand position, with a base that ensures a secure grip.
  • Loop handle: Easy to grip and adapts to the natural shape of the hand.

There are various handles made from different materials. Choosing the appropriate model will depend on the required level of grip according to the user’s condition.

In general, specialists recommend heavier adapted handles for conditions related to balance and lighter adapted handles for conditions related to reduced mobility.
